COMMON QUESTIONS

What is the church’s overall vibe?

At Montgomery Square, we are a small church family of many cultures and backgrounds, united in Christ and committed to loving all. In celebration of our differences, we combine traditional hymns with contemporary music, creating a space where everyone feels included and inspired. Laity of all ages are welcome to participate each week through leading worship, scripture readings, and performing with the praise band. No matter your age or stage of life—whether you are single, married with kids, a child, or a youth—we provide the space and tools for everyone to connect, explore, and discover deeper relationships with God and one another. We empower various groups during special annual celebrations such as Veterans Day, Youth Day, Men’s Day, and Women’s Day, by giving them opportunity to lead in worship and share meaningful messages from their unique perspectives, enriching our collective understanding and unity with our community.  We strive to create a welcoming community where everyone can experience kindness and support. You will feel encouraged and inspired by the light and hope that brings us together.

What is the length and format of your Sunday worship service?

Our praise band opens the service with three praise songs. After the praise songs, children who want to attend Sunday school are dismissed for their class. One of our lighthearted and friendly worship leaders then comes forward. Not sure why it started, but they have a longstanding tradition of sharing information about the designated “National Days” during the opening announcements.  We also have a very talented musician who plays traditional music on the piano or organ during service. We serve Holy Communion on the first Sunday each month. Our service typically lasts about one hour or less. Everyone is invited to enjoy coffee fellowship with refreshments after service.

How would you describe your worshipping community profile? What is your average attendance and overall demographic makeup of your members?

Our current weekly attendance is low. It hovers around 25 for worship with about 5 children in Sunday School.  Albeit small now, our sanctuary is large, our spirits are lifted, and we are actively seeking to grow our community. Currently, we are focused on creating new space for millennials and gen z. Our demographic makeup comprises a rich diversity of age, ethnicity, and family composition. Majority of our attendees are USA-born; however, we proudly boast of attracting and embracing people who immigrated here from five other countries. We receive continuous visitations from people who live in other states, that enjoy worshipping with us whenever they are in town.

What types of organizations and groups make up your community hub (such as those that regularly use your shared space or collaborate on events)?

We collaborate closely with Chalfont United Methodist Church,  sharing the same pastor and co-hosting youth group and Bible study ministries that foster community and joint spiritual growth. Together, our churches organize a variety of annual activities and events. For example, we jointly organize holiday activities, community service projects, and youth retreats that bring members from both congregations together.

We share our space with the three non-profit groups listed below and we actively seek to welcome groups focused on mental health, education, or social services, and encourage interested organizations to contact us at [email protected] for more information about our hosting process.
